Apple announces the Apple Watch Series 3 with LTE connectivity
Apple officially unveiled today its newest Apple Watch Series 3 with LTE connectivity support. The announcement was made on stage during Apple’s media event today at Steve Jobs Theater by CFO Jeff Williams following a moving video of Apple Watch users sharing their stories.
Features and Specifications
The Apple Watch Series 3 will support Apple Music all alone – even without an iPhone, allowing users to “stream 40 million songs from their wrist.” The cellular model Apple Watch also has the same cellular number as your iPhone, and there’s also support for placing calls, even without the iPhone beside you.
In addition to its cellular and LTE capabilities, there’s a new dual-core processor with up to 70 percent faster performance. Siri can also talk now, – a notable upgrade thanks to its new processor. There’s also the new W2 chip that is 50 percent more power efficient for Bluetooth and WiFi.
As for the SIM technology, the cellular Apple Watch Series 3 uses an electronic SIM to preserve space.
Tim Cook touted that Apple Watch is now the number one watch in the world, overtaking Rolex. Cook also noted Apple Watch’s 50 percent year-over-year growth last quarter.
Jeff Williams, on the other hand, also touted that the Apple Watch Series 3 is the same size as the Series 2 model.
