DON’T MISS: Our Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018 coverage! Head on HERE to see our posts about it!

Taiwanese multinational electronics manufacturer ASUS goes into Barcelona, Spain to unveil their latest iteration of its Zenfone series at the MWC 2018. While their naming scheme is again, confusing (there’s a Zenfone 5 already released in 2014), it’s #BackTo5 campaign meant a lot of changes on how the people will perceive the Zenfone 5. That’s right, the company wants you to perceive it as an incremental upgrade to its last year’s Zenfone 4 series.

Now, like any other 2018 flagship smartphones, these ones (except the Lite) also comes with AI inside, thanks to the latest Snapdragon 600-series processor and it’s dedicated Neural Processing Engine. The two of them, also comes with a iPhone X-like notch up top.

Both the Zenfone 5 (ZE620KL) and Zenfone 5Z sports a 90% screen-to-body ratio, which is actually impressive.

And here’s what you are looking for:

On the other hand, there’s also a toned-down version of the Zenfone 5 and 5Z, and as a tradition, ASUS names it the Zenfone 5Q or Zenfone 5 Lite in some regions. Although it doesn’t contain all the AI-gimmicks the aforementioned handsets has, it still seems powerful enough to be on the mid-range tier.

The Zenfone 5Q/Lite sports a 6-inches, 18:9 screen aspect ratio with Full HD+ resolution. This devies doesn’t bear the notch design in top, but still features a quad-camera setup, among others.

With that said, what we would like to know is how’s ASUS implementation of AI will integrate into its hardware. We’re working our way out to get our hands on these phones for a review so stay tuned for that until we publish that one soon!

Pricing and Availability

ASUS is yet to announce the price for both the Zenfone 5 and Zenfone 5 Lite. Meanwhile, the Zenfone 5Z’s price is already announced and at €479 or $585 or PhP30,6K for the 4GB/64GB variant, this should give you an idea on how much the aforementioned handsets will cost.

Seriously, considering that the Zenfone 5Z has a Snapdragon 845 inside paired with flagship specifications and is priced competitively, this should give a run for other flagships who are priced way beyond this price mark.

The new smartphones will be available in April 2018.
