ASUS launches the ZenFone 5Z in the Philippines, and it’s reasonably priced!
One of the most interesting releases in the smartphone market today is perhaps from Taiwanese company ASUS, and its latest flagship or what do they market as ‘the most intelligent ZenFone to date’ – the ZenFone 5Z.
On an event held yesterday at One Esplanade, Pasay City, ASUS announced their new ZenFone 5 series, along with the ZenFone 5Z that has a notch on top and is something that might make similarly-spec’d competitors ‘shookt‘ (as the millennial says).
The new ZenFone 5 series was first announced at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018 in Barcelona last February.
We’re not lucky to have a hands-on of the said unit there (since it wasn’t there at the experience area) so instead, we’ll give you a glimpse of how this smartphone would compete in terms of its specifications and performance.
Powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 845 processor, the ZenFone 5Z is marketed as AI-centric and intelligent phone, thanks to the chipset’s underlying power. It is also paired up with Adreno 630 – the newest GPU from them as well as either 4/6/8GB of RAM and also either 64/128/256GB of internal storage.
In terms of display, the ZenFone 5Z also comes with a notch on top, just like most of the smartphones that are unveiled this year (indeed, the era of the ‘notch’ is already here), and the panel underneath is a 6.2-inch FHD+ IPS (1080 x 2246, 19:9 aspect ratio) display.
All of that greatness is powered by ASUS’s ZenUI 5.0, their own flavor of Android 8.0 Oreo, and a not-so-hefty 3300mAh battery.

Also, the Philippines will be getting the 6GB / 128GB variant of the ZenFone 5Z, and it’s not clear yet when there will be other options available when it will start going in sale on June of this year.
