STS ASIA, CHINALenovo has announced its new Lenovo Z5 and to a disappointment, it’s not exactly the phone we were looking forward to.

Lenovo previously teased us that it will be an “all-screen” phone, similar to the upcoming Vivo Apex, showing renders seemingly all-screen that made us believe that it will not sport the worst idea in smartphone designs (the notch), but unfortunately, it still has one, and we can’t do anything about it.

While most of the smartphones unveiled in 2018 sports the notch, it would be much more acceptable if Lenovo didn’t hyped us like that in the first place. The photos above shows how Lenovo has teased the product, in sketches and renders, and how the actual product ended up.

On its launch keynote, Lenovo was even claiming that their notch is narrower than the fruit phone, although according to its teasers, they should have get rid of it.

One of the teasers Lenovo had for the Z5

Rants aside, the Z5 do sport some good specs for a mid-range device, being powered by a Snapdragon 636 processor, and even sporting 6GB of RAM and up to 128GB of internal storage. There’s also 3,300 mAh battery pack inside that supports 18W fast charging through its USB-C port. It runs on Android Oreo 8.0 with Lenovo’s ZUI 4.0 on top, also promising the Android P update when it comes out this year.

Joining the notch bandwagon also means joining the AI bandwagon for Lenovo, with the Z5’s dual rear camera setup equipped with a 16-megapixel and 8-megapixel lenses, with an 8-megapixel front camera on the notch sporting AI-assistive capabilities.
