All hail Nokia fans like me! The speculations are true. Yes, there is now a huge sign that Nokia, is going back to smartphone business in 2017 through HMD Global.

HMD Global Oy (a finnish company) has signed a strategic licensing agreement with Nokia that grants the exclusive use of its brand name for their mobile phones and tablets manufactured worldwide for the next 10 years. And it has promised to return Nokia back to its former glory starting with the launch of some cool Android phones in the coming year.

If you look at http://nokia.com/phones, it currently has a small list of Nokia feature phones. But that might change soon as they might reveal some on Mobile World Congress (MWC) that takes place in Barcelona from February 27 to March 2 next year.

And there is this form on the website to sign up for their updates saying “We’re busy working on Nokia smartphones running Android™. Sign up below and we’ll keep you posted on what’s next.”

Also, an official slide from Nokia’s Capital Markets Day presentation has just confirmed their plans about their business on the following years.

Before the said announcement, some alleged Nokia smartphones have already leaked with its rumored specs. Some of the rumors revealed a flagship Nokia smartphone labelled Pixel, that has a high-end display and running on Android Nougat 7.0 OS.

On the other hand, Nokia D1C is another alleged Android smartphone in the works, which will come in two variants. A premium version that might feature a 5.5-inch display, 1080p display, with 3GB of RAM and 16MP rear camera, while the cheaper one will offer a 5-inch Full HD screen, 2GB of RAM, and a 13MP primary camera. Both variants, however are reportedly powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 430 processor and Adreno 505 GPU.

To support this news, here is a Facebook page just created by Nokia Mobile on December 1, 2016 (GMT+8)

I hope that these Nokia-branded Android smartphones has the quality and versatility of their previous legends (like the Nokia 3310). And we’re hoping to see Nokia back to where it truly belongs – in the mobile phone business, giving the current established players a huge challenge to face on. CAN’T WAIT TO HAVE MY HANDS ON AN NOKIA-BRANDED ANDROID SMARTPHONE!
