Xiaomi’s Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus now official, with affordable price and 18:9 displays

Would these be Xiaomi’s another fan-favorite?

After being on the rumor-mill for the last few weeks, Xiaomi’s successor to its fan-favorite Redmi 4 series are now finally official – the Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus. 

Both smartphones now come with not-really-bezel-less 18:9 screen display ratio, and absolutely bang-for-the-buck specs considering the prices these phones has, as well as in these colors: blue, gold, rose gold and black.

Xiaomi’s Redmi series are geared for the budget-oriented humans, so the prices are here as follows:

Redmi 5

  • 3GB RAM / 32GB ROM — ¥899 (~$135) / (~PhP6,885)

Redmi 5 Plus

  • 3GB RAM / 32GB ROM — ¥999 (~$150) / (~PhP7,650)
  • 4GB RAM / 64GB ROM — ¥1,299 (~$180) / (~PhP9,180)

In terms of availability, the Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus are set to go on sale in China by December 12. No word about other markets availability so far since it was just unveiled moments ago.
