ZTE launches a foldable phone with 2 screens
Remember the rumored Samsung ‘Galaxy X’ that STS Despatch has reported a while ago? Well, ZTE, one of the largest mobile hardware manufacturer, has entailed up with that idea, changed a little bit and dropped something that no one has ever asked for – the ZTE Axon M, a foldable phone with dual screens.
While it is not the very first working foldable smartphone launched in the market (that title belongs to the Kyocera Echo, 2011), ZTE thinks that the device will suit everyday use with its Dual mode which provides 2 apps open at the same time (multitasking at its finest, I guess) as well as an Extended mode which enlarges your current open app for much larger space. Lastly, a mirror mode that shows one screen (duplicated) on both displays, and traditional mode which disables one screen and leaves the other one alone.
With premium materials and meticulous engineering, ZTE was able to achieve a smartphone that can be folded into a standard 5.2-inch device, or unfolded via a hinge system to achieve dual screen.
Inside is a Snapdragon 821 chip, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of internal storage and will come with Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box. It also comes with a 20-megapixel camera that can act both as a rear and a front camera when needed (which, if you will give a thought, that makes the dual screen much useful – think of it as a camera with a flip-screen). All of that is powered by a 3180mAh battery.
The ZTE Axon M will be available in the US for USD $725 (~PhP36K) or USD $24.17 (~PhP1,2K) per month for 30 months on a postpaid plan exclusively via AT&T US. The foldable phone is also eyeing other key markets such as Japan, Europe and China, and will be getting their own beginning November 17th. Other countries and markets availability still uncertain as of this moment.
